Every year, the RI Department of Education recognizes the top schools in the state, naming them the “Commended Schools”. We are delighted to report that once again, The Compass School is among this elite group! We are one of only 22 Commended Schools (out of 306 total public schools) in Rhode Island.
In order to earn the Commended status, schools must:
- show increases in the school’s proficiency achievement levels on standardized tests
- demonstrate individual student growth on those tests
- prove that they are closing the achievement gap between the regular education population and sub groups like special education
- have at least 95% participation on standardized tests
Congratulations to our whole community for earning this highest praise from the Department of Education two years in a row! Here’s the press release with additional information.
