Our Compass middle school students stole the show at the State House last week! We showed up in force with 19 Compass student leaders, which made quite the impression on all of the VIPs present. Our students were positive and brave.
At the RI State House, Compass middle school students…
- shook hands and introduced themselves to adults they didn’t know.
- challenged the representative from Walmart to encourage his organization “to procure ethically-produced products” (their words, not mine!)
- spotted Governor Raimondo (who was not part of the event), chased her down and swarmed her to secure a photo opp and invite her to Eco Fair.
- participated in an amazing debate on floor of the House of Representatives about banning plastic bags
The chaperones and I literally BEAMED all morning long as our hearts swelled with Compass pride. Go Compass!
