A Journey to the State House
At Compass, we see our students as change-makers.  We recognize that they need to understand how the systems around them function in order to make meaningful contributions and impact positive change.

Our Discoverers recently traveled to Providence to bring their social studies learning to life.  Students have been studying how bills become laws.  During their visit to the State House, they toured the historic building, sat where our representatives sit to vote, and even got to cast their own practice ballots.

Not only did they learn about the process, but our students also schmoozed our own newly elected representative Carol McEntee of District 33.  Our students were such great ambassadors from of the Compass School that McEntee wanted to learn more about us!

Cheers to Ms. Heidi, Mr. Drew, Ms. Elissa and the parent chaperones who made this great trip possible!
